MEET LEX PATRICK, One Talented Nigerian Artist.

Have you ever wondered how an Artist can get even the hideous details in a portrait's expression? Communicating the feelings of his portrait to be felt by a viewers mind.

Yes, I do wonder.

Art is more than the Physical Eyes..

You know, what we do with our hands is much more than the physical eyes can see. You ask why? Have you ever wondered why a painting or a drawing tends to attracts people, while another doesn't? Because there's a personal revelation attached to that drawing. You can't just wake up and want to draw. No! You have to know and have the desire burning in

My new found Love for Austin Uzor

Recently, I saw a feature of a young Artist, whose work I immediately fell in love with. An Artist who has brought the beauty of Arts, using the usual differently to form beauty and craftiness.

Austin Uzor, his slogan (...I think) is "Every Line has a purpose", Uses Lines in a Mesh-y way.

The Psychotic Artist

One thing about Art, is the platform it gives for people to express themselves. It brings out the inner expressions/feelings/emotions, passing the message unto the public. Sometimes, the public can get to know the personality an Artist.

That said, this 17-year-old Schizophrenia girl uses her artistic powers to share her story with others online; drawing her Hallucinations. Some of these drawings are dark.

This drawing illustrates her. She says she sees stars and circles.

She reveals very little about herself besides a username: ThePsychoticArtist

Is there an Increase in the Appreciation of the Nigerian Art?

ART IN NIGERIA, can we say its appreciation is increased over the years or it's motionless?

Art work by: Anyim Peyton Patience

To me, i'd say, it's fast rising. Take a look at Nigeria before and the present, you'd notice the increase in Exhibitions either held solely by individuals or sponsored by companies.

But then to the majority, I see less appreciation.

I'm going to be posting features of Companies that are taking and increasing Nigeria Arts and Culture.

Check Out Amazing pencil Art Works From Basket Mouth's Brother Godwin Onyekachi Okpocha

Arts runs in the blood of the Okpochas, Meet Bright Okpocha's (Basketmouth) brother who is an Artist

Godwin Onyekachi Okpocha is an unpronounced artistic genius, a father of two based overseas and the elder bother to Nigeria popular comedian “Basket Mouth”. His unique designs can be classified from digital graphics, masterpiece sketching and illustrator smoothening. (See his works after the cut)

Surfing the net as usual, I came across this story about Basket Mouth's brother, who happens to be an artist, (another Kelvin Okafor). Getting his instagram ID, I checked him out @godwin4577, where he featured a friend of his:

"HOW MANY OF THESE GREAT ICON CAN YOU NAME?

''This week art feature goes to my brother, my best friend and best man at my wedding, my confidant, my undercover nerd partner, my art critic and advicer, amongst others...@dmakun @dmakun @dmakun. We went to the same secondary school, there we formed two comicbook universe DBG (DOTUN, BRIGHT, GODWIN) and later on SATURN COMICS, along side MY younger brother @basketmouth (yes he's an artist too), we created characters, made full comic books with these characters, from the storyline, pencilling, inking, colouring and lettering. We had such big dreams and this was back in 1989, @ahmaduusman was there. We later went to the same university where he went ahead and studied Fine and applied Art while I and my bro got lost in Sociology. We've been friends since the day we met (story that touches the heart) He's about the best painter I know on ground and these are his work. Oil on canvas. He doesn't display his work on his Instagram page unfortunately so I'm officially his manager, if y'all want a painting done professionally contact me and I'll contact him (by force manager). #art #arts #artist #artists #draw #drawing #drawings #painter #painting #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #fallenheroes #westafricanart #Africanartist #Africanartists #blackandwhite #whiteandblack #greyscale''

A Brief On Kelvin Okafor

We've been looking recently into the Nigerian Artist that has been making waves with his pencil sketches that look a whole lot like photographs. Here's a little brief about him;

http://www.kelvinokaforart.com

Background:
Mr. Kelvin Okafor  was born on November 1, 1985 in London to Nigerian parents from Ibusa, Delta State. As a child, he had always been fascinated with creativity. As a result, after his A-Levels at St Ignatius College, he went for a one year course in Foundation Art & Design at City & Guilds – London Art School. He then proceeded to Middlesex University where he bagged a B.A. Honours in Fine Art.
After many years developing his technique as a pencil artist, Kelvin Okafor was catapulted into the spotlight when the BBC and other media picked up his story after he was awarded multiple prizes in 2012-13.
Motivation:
“Progression inspires and motivates me, not just as an artist, but as a human being. Productivity makes me happy, being able to produce and create art for people to engage with. To prompt and arouse emotions, making people feel inspired and encouraged is what gives me great joy and satisfaction, and in turn, inspires me to keep creating,” said Okafor.

He was subsequently asked to join the prestigious Albemarle Gallery in Mayfair, London. His first solo show took place May 2014.
He has recently exhibited his artworks at two prestigious exhibitions in the UK this year. The Mall Galleries for the Threadneedle Prize Exhibition and National Open Art Competition with four exhibitions at: The Minerva Theatre, The Prince’s Foundation, Pallant House and The Science Museum.

About the last award:

Okafor’s painting, Adam, did not only win The Catherine Petitgas Visitors’ Choice Prize, it has been selected to represent the  National Open Art Competition at the Works on Paper/Watercolour Fair at the London Science Museum from January 31 to February 3, 2013.

More art works by Kelvin Okafor..

A Young Nigerian Artist who has taken art into another dimension, making pencil drawings non differential from an actual photograph..

Kelvin Okafor is a graduate of Fine Art, Middlesex University and is now making waves across the world with his incredible pencil drawings that looks like photographs.

Kelvin creates each piece only in black and white, using graphite pencils, charcoal, and black coloured pencil. He's exhibited at numerous major art galleries and won several national awards for his remarkable work. His work is currently on display at the The Watercolours + Works on Paper Fair at the London Science Museum, until February 3.

Kelvin writes on his blog:
'I aspire to create art as vivid as eyes could see. I want my drawings to prompt an emotional response, making viewers feel as though they are looking at a real live subject. I’ve always been creative, but fell in love with using pencils in particular.
It amazed me, that with only one shade of lead, you can create so many tones and textures, and almost create the illusion of colour. It was only when my images started to create a buzz with other Middlesex University students that I realised their impact.'
