Art Works Displayed at the NAC 2014 Grand Finale

The Grand Finale of the National Art Competition, which held at the banquet hall of the civic centre, Victoria Island was a success, as art lovers came from all over to witness to exhibition. The event which was hosted by Miss Wana Udobang, kick started with the display of the 12 finalists art works, ranging from Sculptures to Video Arts to Installations to Drawings to Photography to Creations using recycled materials. The guest at the exhibition were treated to a dance presentation by the Deliver Crew, who Choreographed Timi Dakolo's 'Great Nation. A lot of dignitaries In attendance with the likes of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde (left); the Director, African Artists’ Foundation, Mr. Azu Nwagbogu; and Competition Judge, Mrs Therese Belisle-Nweke.

The 12 Art works displayed were:  “WASTE” of Time by Priscilla Nwanah; Chief Ngurigon Kada Mathias by Pwavidon Mathias; Paper Dolls by Jacqueline Suowari; V Stall by Ada Umeofia; Line, Patches and Pathos by Erasmus Onyishi; Ask Yourself by Amarachi Okafor to view arts works-sabinews.com or follow finalist overview to see more art works.


MD of Nigerian Breweries, Mr. Nicholas Vervelde in his address said NCA was just one of several platforms through which the company seeks to identify and develop Nigerian talent. “This year we had more than a hundred proposals, and out of these hundred proposals, our twelve finalists were selected. These twelve finalists were sent for a retreat during which they were trained in artistic creation. The works we see here today were executed over the last twelve weeks.”
