TY Bello... My Third Photographer..

With all the new photo studios offering professional services and the wonderful photographers we all see on shutter chance, photography among Nigerians is no longer child’s play.

My number 3 photographer is a woman I envy. On October 10th 2014, she became a proud mother of Two - a set of twin boys, after 9 years of marriage. The twin boys have been named Christian and Christopher. Yes, Toyin ‘T.Y’ Bello nee Sokefun
She is a multi-talented young lady who was part of the group, KUSH (remember, Angels and Lets Live Together?), which was made up of her, Emem and Lara. She also studied economics at the University of Lagos.

T.Y is one of Nigeria’s foremost photographers, an internationally acclaimed portrait photographer and is part of the prestigious 'Depth of Field' Collective…The colours, shades and textures which she captures in her photographs are expressed in her music as well. “Art is about collecting experiences and expressing them. For me music and photography are similar art forms. I collect experiences, stir them in myself and express it in my own language. Just like my photography, music is my language.” Her music is eclectic: urbane, groovy and soulful; and is laced with hip hop, jazz and R&B.
Toyin Bello stages an annual photography exhibition to raise funds for orphans across the country. She is also a Director of Link-a-child; an NGO dedicated to propagating information on orphanages in Nigeria and soliciting sponsorship on their behalf.

Moving higher, the ex-Kush member is now one of the official photographers attached to the presidency. Not only did she shoot the photographs of the first family for the Thisday Style feature, she was also an active photographer at the presidential inauguration that held May 29, 2014. Great stuff, she's an amazing photographer!

I luv her work plus she's so down-to-earth...
I also luv her bohemian style...uber fab! Plus, she's a Naturalist, an epitome of a 'Natural Nigerian'.

Here is some of T.Y’s work

Kelechi Amadi-Obi.. My Second Photographer..

 Mr Kelechi Amadi-Obi
View more works below..

Now who says Art Isn't and Can't be amongst the 'Topnotch or relevant courses or Career Path'?

Imagine a Lawyer settling down to a full time studio artiste. Yes, Mr Kelechi Amadi-Obi after obtaining a law degree and his  call to bar in 1993, settled to full-time studio art. And Yes again, he has earned international renown for his PHOTOGRAPHY and paintings

From been the best class artist during his childhood days, drawing Spiderman and incredible Hulk Images, his love for Arts grew and his skills got increasingly better.

Taking his first portrait paid job in the university opened his eyes to the commercial implication of been an artist. Therefore, he explored and exploited it more. Trying to classify his photography style, in an interview with Ezinne Chinkata, the Fashion and Style Consultant for Bellanaija, he said "I don’t know how to classify myself, as I constantly try to get away from stuff I normally do. Classification is a limitation. What I love at this moment may bore me later. I encourage that state of boredom to help inspire variety."

Growing up in an Intense study environment, developing the habit of personal improvement through study, Kelechi’s background as a painter has a deep imprint on the way he views photography. It translates into a more artistic output in terms of looking at all the elements within a photograph. He basks in being proudly Nigerian and portrays all the “third world uniqueness” in our community as raw beauty! His areas of expertise include, advertising photography, creative portraiture, landscape photography, fine-art photography and fashion photography.

To the young and aspiring photographer, he says "Do not like what you do, love it, be obsessed with it, madly passionate about it and enjoy it."

Celebrating Nigeria’s Art Renaissance!

On this Thursday’s episode of ‘Late Night with Nike Oshinowo’, the two guests; renowned photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi with the Director of Lagos Photo Festival, Azu Nwagbogu and Nike Oshinowo discuss the growth of creativity and talent in Nigeria in terms of media, music, film and most especially, art.

They talk about everything from creativity to art and the infrastructure of art in the nation; Is it a money making enterprise? How are the youth coming up in this industry able to manoeuvre with virtually no blueprint laid before them?

Nike Oshinowo also discusses Kelechi Amadi-Obi’s journey because not a lot of people know that he started out as a lawyer.

They also discuss the foundations of the Lagos Photo Festival, the medium of art and how it can speak to the masses. As the Nigerian art renaissance continues to come to life the ramifications of what it means for our society cannot be overstated, join the conversation tonight on Late Night with Nike Oshinowo

Victor Modo.. My First Photographer..

Looking into photography, I would like us to know this Man "Victor Modo".

Not just did I notice his good works buh his passion and flair to bring out the 'ish' in a picture. I love how he plays around his photography. From covering fashion photo shoots to pre-wedding pictures to classy events ( be it weddings, parties, conferences, religious activity) to random images. His freestyles are beautiful, some could be playful, others serious or moderate, still you'd see what you want in a picture.

Victor Modo is the Creative Manager of ModZero Concepts. To see amazing photographs, capturing the moments and definitely you'd want him to do your Memoirs.. Follow ModZero Concepts on TwitterFacebookInstagram

Here are a few samples of ModZero Concepts work of Art

Yes, Photography!

We all love to take pictures, either to showcase our skills in different postures or to show we are beautiful / photogenic. I'd say, pictures are memoirs of our life, recounts of our life's journey. Memoirs aren't just written scripts but can be in vocals and static images.

Let's say you're going through your stashed up belongings and then you come across this album you've had for a long while, going through it would bring back memories and laughter to you; even though some pictures were taken when time and conditions were rough for you buh seening it after a long while wouldd make you smile. For sometime, I would be focusing on Photography.

Photography is an art; the Photographer is an artist.
Photography as defined online is the process or art of producing  images of objects on sensitize surfaces by the chemical action of light or of other forms of radiant energy, as x-rays, gamma rays, cosmic rays. So, is Photography art, i'd say yes; it refers to an imprecise category of photographs, created in accordance with the creative vision of the cameraman. The basic idea behind the genre, is that instead of merely capturing a realistic rendition of the subject, the photographer is aiming to produce a more personal - typically more evocative or atmospheric - impression.

Nissi Ogulu: The Norrd Phenomenon for Exhibition

Who wouldn't be all smiles to come from a family of creative geniuses as that of the Ogulus. With a veteran broadcaster and award winning music critic as her grandfather; to an A-list artiste in the Nigerian music industry, Burna Boy as an older brother; to having a Big sister who bagged a First class degree from the Durham University Business School, mid year of 2014; to a 20 year Old Nissi Ogulu, a second year Mechanical Engineering Student at the University of Warwick, UK.

Confirming her creativity genes, Nissi is not only a wild soul of deep creative thoughts, but also an Afro Jazz singer with an admirable mastery of different musical instruments.

Nissi Ogulu, will be exhibiting her art works from January 3 to January 9, at Terra Kulture Tiamiyu Savage from 10am till 6pm daily.  Grand Opening 3rd-4th of January 2015.

The works displayed are that of an artist who one would consider, an old soul. Be it a painting of a "Massai Warrior from East Africa" or an abstract piece, which serves as a reflection of the current times among other thought evoking art works, one thing is certain. Norrd has the look of art, which can be termed contemporary, but yet nostalgic in the same space.
Admission; Open To All.

See you there..
