Overall Winner, 2014 National Art Competition Announced...
And so, Mr Erasmus Onyishi took home the 2million naira grand prize + a solo exhibition, emerging as the overall winner for the 2014 NAC. Modupeola Fadugba emerged as the winner Outstanding Production and Paul Mbah, took the place of the winner Outstanding Concept. Surprises awaited two of the finalists, Amarachi Okafor and Nkechi Ebubedike who walked away with the Jurors’ prize of 500 thousand naira each; a contribution by the judging panel, led by Professor El Anatsui, in appreciation of the talents they believed merited prizes as well.
In his work, Mr Eramus's Lines, Patches and Pathos is an incentive-orientated project which involves active participation by the natives/dwellers of Lafia, Nasarawa State, to address plastic waste which exists in abundance, causing visual noise, negative environmental implications and a health menace.
Miss Modupeola's The People’s Algorithm and The Butterfly Effect aims to show that everyone- teachers, students, parents and policy makers can contribute to the nation’s problem-solving efforts. It's an interactive game that presents the current state of affairs in Nigeria, as it pertains to education, using the Rubik’s Cube to symbolize the multifaceted problems that exist.

Paul Mbah's work The T‘Eye’meline, aims to serve as a potent reminder that we Nigerians have the power to spark revolutions and be the pioneers of the changes that our country needs by harnessing the rudiments of interventions as exhibited through a series of sketches and mixed media
installation. These works incorporate elements featuring interventions as expressed through five different themes: Emulation, Empowerment, Time and Resource Management, Awareness, and Positivity.

Awesomeness of Arts: Hyperrealistic Sculptures by Ron Mueck
I came across a post and was caught by its title. Clicking on it, I was then redirected to blog link and on opening, I saw an awesomeness of arts that's just too awesome!!! Hyperrealistic Sculptures of an Australian Artist, Ron Mueck - who has taken time to go out of proportion, doing sculptures that's are gigantic and lilliputians - are beautifully mind blowing. The details were so forged out rightly and barely can one say it isn't real, they are so mind blowing that we can assume them to be real humans. We get to see works of art everyday, but never have I come by this kind. To see what i'm taking about, go here: Out of This World Hyperrealist Scuptures of Ron Mueck

The Life in my City Arts and Festival has wormed its way for 8th years now, bringing back arts into the Nigerian society, whose aim is to promote art pan-Nigeria through an annual competition that offers opportunity for young people to showcase and commercialise their productions, to win handsome prizes and interact with the larger art community on a national platform.
